Alright fam, can we talk? The internet, as per usual, has been buzzing like a cracked beehive, and this time it involves two artists we all know and (hopefully) love: Sjava and Amanda Black. And let me tell you, the rumours flying around are WILD.
Basically, a rumour started circulating – I’m talking full-blown wildfire levels of spreading – that Sjava had sexually assaulted Amanda Black. And honestly, my first reaction was a big, fat WHAT?! Like, where did THAT even come from? It just seemed so out of left field and completely disconnected from anything I’d ever heard about either of them.
Now, before you start picturing me sipping tea and relishing the gossip (because, let’s be real, we’ve all been there), let me be clear: I’m not about spreading rumours, especially when they’re this serious. And thankfully, Amanda Black herself stepped up to set the record straight.
Amanda Black Said WHAT Now?!
In a nutshell, Amanda Black has flat-out denied the allegations. She’s come out and said, point blank, that Sjava did NOT sexually assault her. I’m quoting her directly here: “Sjava did not sexually assault me. I have no idea where these rumours came from, but they are not true and did not come from me.”
Seriously though, it’s incredibly important when someone directly refutes a rumour of this nature that we listen. We can’t just ignore what she’s saying and let the rumour mill keep churning. Amanda Black is the one who would know, and she’s been incredibly clear.
Apparently, the rumour started popping up recently on social media, and Amanda was understandably taken aback. She even said she has no idea where it originated, which is honestly terrifying. Imagine waking up one day and seeing a rumour like that attached to your name! Nightmare fuel, am I right?
Now, if you’re scratching your head and wondering how these two even know each other, let’s rewind a bit. They both used to be under the Ambitiouz Entertainment label. Remember that banger, “Phumelela,” with Miss Pru and Saudi? Yeah, they were all on that track together before Amanda Black left the label back in 2018. So, there’s a professional connection, but clearly, nothing beyond that as far as this particular rumour is concerned.
Okay, But What About Sjava’s Past? Let’s Address the Elephant in the Room.
Now, I know what some of you might be thinking. This isn’t the first time Sjava’s name has been associated with allegations of sexual assault. Let’s not pretend that the case with Lady Zamar didn’t happen. In 2020, Lady Zamar opened a case alleging that Sjava raped her in 2017 after a concert in Thohoyandou, Limpopo. She described a harrowing experience, saying she was “defenseless” and unable to fight back.
However, and this is a crucial however, the case was ultimately dropped by the NPA (National Prosecuting Authority) due to insufficient evidence. NPA spokesperson Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi stated that “the facts or evidence do not support a successful prosecution.”
This doesn’t mean Lady Zamar wasn’t telling the truth. It just means the evidence available wasn’t strong enough to prove the allegations beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. It’s a frustrating reality, and it highlights the complexities of sexual assault cases.
Sjava himself has always maintained his innocence. He’s stated publicly that he has never sexually abused a woman and that he’s been an advocate against abuse of all kinds. He understands the gravity of the situation and the importance of condemning abuse.
So, Where Does This Leave Us?
Look, I’m not here to tell you what to believe. That’s not my place. But I am here to encourage critical thinking and responsible information consumption. When you see these kinds of rumours swirling online, take a step back. Ask yourself:
- Where did this information come from?
- Is there any credible source backing it up?
- Is the person directly involved denying the allegations?
In this case, Amanda Black has unequivocally denied the rumours. While Sjava’s past allegations are important to remember, they don’t automatically make him guilty of this specific accusation.
We need to be careful about spreading misinformation and perpetuating harmful narratives. Let’s try to be more responsible and more empathetic in our online interactions. Remember, real people are affected by these rumours.
