Thohoyandou, Limpopo—Popular Limpopo comedian Livhuwani Madadzhe, known as SABC Livhu has been arrested and is back in jail after a shocking series of crimes. Already on trial for his wife’s murder, Madadzhe now faces fraud charges for faking his mother’s death to claim insurance money. Authorities arrested him on Monday at the Thohoyandou High Court.
The Fake Death Scam that
Madadzhe aka SABC Livhu allegedly forged a death certificate and built a fake tombstone to scam insurance companies. However, the scheme collapsed when his mother, Gladys Khomunala, visited the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) to apply for a pension grant. Shockingly, she was told she was officially “dead.”
Gladys Khomunala said, “I’m alive and well! How could my own son do this to me? He even built a fake grave. What kind of person does that?”
The Murder Trial
Meanwhile, Madadzhe remains on trial for the 2017 murder of his wife, Lindelani Nengovhela. Her body was found in a pit toilet at their home. Although he was released on R50,000 bail, the case has dragged on for years, leaving Lindelani’s family desperate for justice.
Lindelani’s Sister stated, “He took my sister’s life and thought he could just move on. Now he’s trying to profit from his own mother’s ‘death.’ This man has no shame.”
The Car Rental Fraud
In addition to the murder and fake funeral charges, Madadzhe is accused of defrauding a car rental company. According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), he rented a BMW X3 from Avis and then posed as an agent for both Avis and Hertz on social media. He allegedly offered vehicles for hire illegally.
NPA Spokesperson Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi explained, “The accused faces multiple charges, including murder, fraud, theft of a motor vehicle, and defeating the ends of justice. His actions reveal a pattern of deceit and criminal behavior.”
Back Behind Bars
Madadzhe’s lawyer, Advocate Ntsako Hlongwane, confirmed that the comedian is in custody. He will remain there until his next court appearance on March 18, 2025. His murder trial continues in the Thohoyandou High Court.
