Nombulelo Mhlongo is excited to return to the screen.

Hey there, entertainment fans! Grab your popcorn because there’s some exciting news bubbling in the small screen world. The incredibly talented actress and musician Nombulelo Mhlongo is making her triumphant return after nearly a two-year hiatus focusing on her music career. That’s right, the 31-year-old star from Pongola, KZN, known for her captivating performances in “Uzalo” and “Durban Gen,” has joined the cast of eTV’s “Scandal!” and is ready to steal hearts once again as MaDlomo.

For those who may not be familiar, Nombulelo has been a household name, especially for her role as nurse Sne Mtshali on “Durban Gen,” which unfortunately was canned by eTV in January 2023. But don’t worry; she’s back, and this time she’s taking on a completely different character! In her latest role, she portrays a decent wife on “Scandal!”—a character reminiscent of Nomcebo from “Uzalo.” It seems like Nombulelo is embracing the complexity of womanhood in all its forms!

In a recent interview with Daily Sun, Nombulelo expressed her excitement about her new chapter in Johannesburg. “I have relocated from Durban to Joburg to focus on my character on Scandal! and I hope people will continue to give love,” she said. It’s clear she’s ready to dive deep into this role and wow us once again.

But that’s not all! Nombulelo has some fabulous projects up her sleeve. She teased fans about an upcoming role on Netflix, promising a character that will be a departure from what we’re used to seeing from her. “I ask my fans to stay tuned and not disown me when they watch that character,” she chuckled. Sounds intriguing, doesn’t it? We can’t wait to see what she’s cooking up!

On top of her acting prowess, she’s also been flexing her musical muscles. Recently, she collaborated on a track titled “Sixakekile” with the talented DJ Exclusive Drum and the renowned Mpumi Mzobe, of “Somandla” fame. Having studied music both locally at Ekhaya Multi-Arts Centre in KwaMashu and internationally at the American Academy of Dramatic Art in LA, Nombulelo knows her way around a melody. “Although I specialize in classical and opera music, I’m a versatile artist. I will do this dancing music that is loved here in Mzansi,” she said, hinting at her dynamic range as a performer.

What’s next for Nombulelo, you ask? Well, she’s even contemplating releasing her own music in the near future. Just imagine the blend of her acting and musical talents coming together!

It’s also worth noting that Nombulelo’s talent hasn’t gone unnoticed. She snagged multiple awards including Best Actress Southern, Eastern Africa, and Best Actress Africa at the Zikomo Africa Awards in Lusaka, Zambia in 2023. Talk about a powerhouse!

With all these projects on the horizon, we’re buzzing with excitement to see what Nombulelo Mhlongo will bring to our screens and playlists. So, make sure you stay tuned and give her all the love she deserves as she embarks on this thrilling journey back into the spotlight!
