Okay, South Africa, let’s talk about Khanya Greens! You know, the sassy, fierce Xoliswa from Smoke & Mirrors? Yeah, her! I gotta say, she’s been killing it in that role, but I was doing a little digging and turns out, there’s a whole lot more to this talented woman than meets the eye.
First things first, Khanya Greens is actually Khanyisile Siphiwe Ngutshane (try saying that five times fast!), born and bred in Johannesburg back in 1992. Her parents? Super impressive – Professor Enos Ngutshane and Dr. Ann Ngutshane, both who studied abroad during the apartheid era. Talk about some brains in the family!
Apparently, little Khanya was destined for the stage. Word on the street is she was a total star at her nursery school concerts! I mean, who isn’t a star in nursery school, right? But she continued to shine, studying drama in high school and being surrounded by all sorts of cool music, art, and culture. It’s like she was building her superstar foundation right from the start!

But here’s where it gets really interesting: MUSIC! Did you know Khanya Greens is a singer too? Not just any singer, but one who’s released tracks like “Grace,” “Delangozi,” and “The Land Lawdz Of The East.” Talk about range! Apparently, her music is all about healing, which is pretty cool.
What’s even wilder is that she almost gave up on the whole music thing! She thought her time had passed, but then the legendary Mafokate heard a song she’d casually recorded on WhatsApp! WHATSAPP?! Talk about a serendipitous discovery. Can you imagine Mafokate scrolling through his WhatsApp and thinking, “Who is THIS?!” The rest, as they say, is history.
And if all that wasn’t enough, she also works as a spiritual healer! Talk about a multifaceted woman! She’s even spoken about how important it is for her to maintain her Christian values while navigating the secular music world. Respect!
So, next time you’re watching Smoke & Mirrors and rooting for Xoliswa, remember that you’re watching a talented actress, a passionate singer, a spiritual healer, and a whole lot more. Khanya Greens is definitely one to watch, and I’m excited to see what she does next! What do you think of her musical journey? Let me know in the comments!
