Okay, so you know how sometimes you play a role and people get confused? Like, you’re a doctor on TV and suddenly everyone thinks you can diagnose their weird rash? Well, “Skeem Saam” actor Matthews Manamela is experiencing something similar, but in a totally heartwarming way.
This guy plays Captain Bebeile, a police officer in the fictional town of Turfloop on the SABC 1 drama, and apparently, actual police officers are giving him major props. Like, they see him as one of their own! How cool is that?
Manamela recently hopped on social media to express his gratitude for all the love and support he’s been getting from these real-life heroes in blue. He said he’s “truly humbled” when they recognize him and treat him as if he’s actually part of the SAPS. I mean, imagine that!
It’s a testament to Manamela’s acting that he’s portraying the role so convincingly that actual law enforcement are giving him the thumbs up. He’s been playing Captain Bebeile for a while now, and it seems he’s really nailed the character, making him a fan favourite (and apparently, a police favourite too!).
It’s always awesome to see actors being appreciated for their hard work, but this takes it to another level. The fact that he’s earning respect from the people he’s portraying is pretty darn special. Big up to Matthews Manamela for doing his role justice and representing our police force in a way that resonates with them! Maybe he’ll get a honorary badge one day! Just kidding… maybe. 😉
